Beetles, Flies, and true

Beetles, Flies, and True bugs • Beetles have a line down there back • Most beetles have two wings • Some beetles will bite if handled • Some beetles are a pest and some aren’t • Ladybugs eat a pest that destroy crops they are called aphids • Some beetles will eat crops. • Scarab is a kind of beetle that has the dung beetle • The biggest beetle is in the scarab family • There are more than 300,000 different kinds of beetles • If you swipe a net on the ground in the rainforest for an entire day you will find a new beetle. • Dung beetles will roll balls of dung to a place then lay babies • Fire flies are beetles • Glow worms are fireflies lava • Glow worms eat insects that are on the ground • In fall glow worms will hibernate then in spring they are in the pupa stage which lasts for two weeks • A fire fly makes light by mixing two chemicals together • Fire flies hardly waste any energy 90% makes light and 4% is lost as heat • Fireflies flash there light to attract females and to mate • Ladybugs larva are one of few that have legs • Ladybugs can lay up to 1,000 eggs • Mosquito Females have to have enough protein from blood to have babies • Mosquito Females lay their eggs by water • If you move a lot or wearing bright clothes you will probly get bite by a mosquito because they can’t see very good and they can sense movement • Mosquitoes can spread terrible diseases • Flies, gnats, and mosquitoes have two wings when most insects have four wings Flies, gnats, and mosquitoes are in the diptera family • Flies are can beneficial and pests • Flies take a lot of time cleaning themselves but they are dirty because they throw up on are food then suck it up • Some flies lay their eggs on animals then when they hatch they start eating the insides of the animal • Robber flies mimic wasps and bees • Robber flies will eat bees, wasps, and other insects. • Robber flies are harrier then bees and wasps • When robber flies hunt they find an insect then stab its mouth then toxins come out in it then it because paralyzed and it’s in sides become lick lid • chinch bugs, stinkbugs, and water bugs are the only true bugs • All true bugs like the chinch bugs, stinkbugs, and water bugs have a sucking mouth • True bugs have a x pattern or a v pattern on their back • True bugs will not feed on human blood • Water striders walk on water and eat the bugs on it • Water striders bend the waters skin when they walk on it • Water striders can see very well • The Giant water bug is a true bug • They spend most of their time in the water • They eat small fish and tadpoles • It uses its abdomen as a snorkel
